Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Webinar

We’ve been hearing about it and preparing for its arrival for almost a year now: the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, or CFPB. There have been plenty of news stories about its development, political aspects such as its leadership, and authority to issue new rules and regulations. It’s certainly true that this agency has almost unfettered authority to do pretty much what it wants to do when it comes to consumer compliance rules. Are you prepared?

Some big questions around all these changes are when will they be happening and how dramatic will they be? We’re getting some information trickling out from various sources about what the Bureau’s priorities are, plus there are other tea leaves to read. This webinar will focus on those questions, so you can start (continue) your planning process to deal with the volume of changes coming down the road.

Among the CFPB’s rules and topics we’ll discuss:

•”Qualified mortgages” – how are these defined and what do they mean? Also, what does it mean to be a non-qualified mortgage
•What parts of what rules does the CFPB control, and how/when will the changes take place?
•The end of Reg. Q
•New prohibitions, including steering and mischaracterizations
•UDAAP: the new standard, and the CFPB’s open checkbook
•New disclosures under Reg. Z
•More data elements to be reported under HMDA and increased fair lending risk
•Who examines who, and who takes thought leadership?
•Required escrows
•Data collection and submission for commercial loan applications – game changer for your commercial lenders
•Changes to Reg. CC
•New appraisal requirements under FIRREA, TILA, and ECOA
•The CFPB’s focus on enforcement
•”Offices” within the Bureau: focus on specific topics such as service member affairs and fair lending, among others

We’ll also provide ample opportunities for questions and answers.

Who Should Attend?

Anyone in your institution that has anything to do with consumer compliance will benefit from this information, including compliance officers, lenders, deposit professionals, counsel, management, auditors, and risk managers, among others.
