Consumer (non-real estate) lending is one of the most regulated activities in the country, and with recent legislative and regulatory developments, more attention than ever is being placed on how you make your loans, and to whom. The Credit CARD Act, for one, imposes significant new operational requirements on ALL open-ended plans, not just credit cards. Plus the proposed new Consumer Financial Protection Agency could upset the apple cart altogether. We’ll discuss these developments and the requirements for (non-real estate) loans, such as credit cards, vehicles, and student loans, among others.
