Real Estate Appraisal – Advanced Course

This Real Estate Appraisal Review Course is designed primarily for financial institutions professionals who review and analyze appraisal reports in their job assignments.

The term Agencies in this course refers to one or all of the following:

  • Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC)
  • Federal Reserve Board (FRB)
  • Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS)
  • National Credit Union Administration (NCUA)
  • Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC)

These instructors will provide basic and generic appraisal information about:

  • Uniform Standards Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP)
  • Appraisal reports
  • Appraisal valuation process
  • Concepts of value
  • Three approaches to value
  • Cost
  • Sales Comparison
  • Income (Capitalization)

This course will enable you to:

  • Explain how the Agencies and supervised institutions use appraisal reports
  • Describe the various types of appraisal reports
  • Explain the appraisal valuation process
  • Identify and describe the relevant factors about the property
  • Identify and describe the relevant factors about the market
  • Describe the identification aspects of highest and best use analysis step of the appraisal valuation process
  • Describe and apply the methods of valuing land
  • Describe, identify, and measure the forms of depreciation
  • Describe and apply the cost approach to valuation
  • Describe and apply the Sales Comparison Approach to valuation
  • Describe and apply the Income Approach to valuation
  • Define pertinent appraisal terms

Intended Audience:  Appraisal Reviewers; Auditors; Credit Specialists & Officers; Fair Lending Specialists; Financial Management Analysts; and Senior Audit Specialists

Note:   There are specific sections of the Real Estate Appraisal Review course that may be challenging to individuals who do not have appraisal-related job experiences or who have not taken college or specialized appraisal courses.
