Self-Study Courses for Banks and Credit Unions

Turn Your Living Room Into A Classroom …

Guided Self-Study Courses offered by the Center for Financial Training are student-friendly, college level courses that allow you to take control of your busy schedule.  You will study on your own, however you will have a qualified instructor only a telephone call or e-mail away.  Upon registering for a class, you will be mailed a textbook, a syllabus outlining your course, and your first open-book quiz.  You will have six months (certain classes allow less than six months) from the starting date to complete your class.  The starting date is three business days from the date books and related materials are mailed to you.   An advisor at the CFT office will keep in touch with you to provide additional assistance to help keep you on schedule.  Your exams (two per class) will be proctored by an officer or manager at your financial institution.  Upon satisfactory completion of your class, you will, within days, receive your grade and the appropriate credits for the class, which are the same as though you had earned them by taking the course in a classroom or online.

Registration Procedures for Guided Self-Study Courses

Bank and Credit Union employees may register for, and start, a Guided Self-Study Course at any time throughout the year by completing the Guided Self-Study Course Registration Form.  Tuition for each course is listed with each course description and includes the textbook and applicable study exercises, quizzes and exams.

Guided Self-Study Course Withdrawal Policy

A student wishing to withdraw from a Guided Self-Study Course must do so in writing within seven days of registering for the course in order to receive a refund, less a $50.00 per course withdrawal fee. There will be no refunds given after the seven day period.  All students who must withdraw after the initial seven day period must still submit a withdrawal letter in order to receive a course grade of “W” rather than “F”.
